Educational Approach

Unique to any other school, our educational approach combines years of research with extensive proven results in children 2 to 12 years old. Developed by Isabel Lainez, this comprehensive approach focuses in 6 key areas that support the Whole Child Development. As the school founder, she has invested a lot of time in designing our educational programs because she strongly believes that education is not just about exposing your child to random activities, but being committed to education that truly enriches their lives. Recognizing that each child is part of a future generation, our teachings also support their natural way of learning and assist in the preparation for their future. Chiquitos strive to make learning one of life's simple pleasures for each child!

Embracing Emotions

Research has shown that emotions are recognized as an important key for active, ongoing, and adaptive processes. In the adaptive process, emotions function as motivation and communication among individuals. Furthermore, researchers have shown that the ability to harness emotions facilitates various cognitive activities, such as: critical thinking, problem solving, and direct learning.

The first priority of Chiquitos School is to establish an emotional connection with each child in a direct and personal approach. With this practice each child's strengths and needs are easily identified. This leads to an effective placement and instructional planning.

When children feel acknowledged, respected, valued, welcomed and loved within the school community they will succeed.

Instructional methods:

Without an instructional focus on learning, any child is at risk of seeing the learning process as a chore. Therefore, our teachers are well trained in teaching strategies and activities that help children learn with enjoyment, efficiency, and confidence. A combination of singing songs, hands on experience, reading time, exploring, and direct instruction are effective instructional strategies modeled by every teacher of the school.
