Staff and faculty
Our teachers are professionals that love to teach, have a genuine
affection for children, and the utmost respect for parents. They are
qualified educators with teaching degrees in their Spanish speaking
countries. Furthermore they acknowledge that every student is motivated to
learn if they feel respected and supported. They strive to create a sense of
family by strengthening the bonds with the students and parents.
Teachers
Wenna Torres was born in Maracaibo Venezuela, where she earned a Teaching degree with an emphasis in Special Education from the University of Monseñor de Talevera. Wenna is currently a preschool teacher with 11 years of experience. This will be her fifth year at Chiquitos.
Yury Cerrud is originally from Chiriquí Panamá. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Panamá in 1992, and in 2004 Yury received her master's degree in Teaching from the University del Istmo. She has been working with children for over 19 years, and this will be her third year with Chiquitos.
Claudia Morales was born in San Vicente, El Salvador. She received her bachelor's degree in Public Relations from the University of Evangelica de El Salvador. She has been working with young children for over 10 years, and this is her third year with Chiquitos.
Rosalba Franco Rosas is from Mexico City, Mexico. Rosalba received her degree in Math and Physics and taught at the University level in Mexico City. When she moved to the US she worked with infants and young children in a day care setting, while continuing her training and education in the US. She currently teaches Chiquitos toddler class, and this is her second year with Chiquitos.
Administration
Isabel Lainez received a Teaching Degree in Honduras in 1983, and furthered her education in Brazil. She moved to the United States, suite case in hand, with anticipation for a new future. From her travels she has become fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Before co-founding Chiquitos in 1996, she worked in different private and public educational settings. She is currently the director of Chiquitos and has developed, and implemented, her Logic Six model to the curriculum of the school. Isabel continually furthers her education and has since become certified as an educational consultant and community trainer.
Romin Furutan received a Computer Engineering Degree from Chico State. He worked at Intel, Tektronics, Apple, and Cisco before co-founding Chiquitos in 1996. He continues to provide assistance with the electronics and maintenance of the school, and holds the position of Technical Director.
Stacy Inman received a bachelor's in Education from University of Oregon, specializing in Early Childhood Education. She is currently the Site Director at Chiquitos School. She has been working with children for over 5 years, and has been in administration for 3 years. This will be her third year at Chiquitos.
